MARCH 24 3:30 PM – NEW INFO: If you are a Canadian manufacturer or business that can assist Canada in meeting the need for medical supplies, the federal government is requesting your help. The Government of Canada is looking to hear from anyone that:
- Manufactures in Canada and/or has ready access to necessary inputs through their supply chain,
- Has equipment or facilities that can be rapidly re-tooled to meet medical needs, including for personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks and surgical gowns, sanitizer, wipes, ventilators, and other medical equipment/supplies,
- Has skilled workers who are able to respond and who could be available for work in the current circumstances.

APRIL 6 2:20 PM – UPDATED INFO (better link only): Temporary Wage Subsidy for Employers: To help businesses keep and return workers to their payroll through the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, proposed the new Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy. This would provide a 75 per cent wage subsidy to eligible employers for up to 12 weeks, retroactive to March 15, 2020. Work-share Program: www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/work-sharing.html (designed to help employers and employees avoid layoffs when there is a temporary reduction in the normal level of business activity that is beyond the control of the employer. Extending Work-Sharing program: The Government of Canada is Implementing the EI Work Sharing Program, which provides EI benefits to workers who agree to reduce their normal working hour as a result of developments beyond the control of their employers, by extending the eligibility of such agreements to 76 weeks, easing eligibility requirements, and streamlining the application process. This was announced by the Prime Minister on March 11, 2020.)
